Overview

When practicing No Gi Jiu Jitsu, you’ll shed your thick kimono and pants for stretchy athletic wear, such as shorts and a rash guard. Without the lapel and collar of a kimono to grab hold of, No Gi Jiu Jitsu is much faster and requires quick thinking. While it’s up for you to decide, many feel that No Gi BJJ is better when it comes to preparing for real-life altercations.

Fitness

With such a fast pace, you’ll be burning tons of calories while practicing No Gi Jiu Jitsu. While BJJ is likely to help you shed a few pounds, it’s going to make you a stronger athlete in every respect. Jiu Jitsu is known for increasing flexibility, building muscle mass, quickening reflexes, and improving coordination. If you’re a multi-sport athlete, No Gi Jiu Jitsu is about to become your best friend.

Self-Defense

Our biggest pet peeve? When schools work so hard to train amazing martial artists, but forget to teach their students how to apply these skills to real-life situations. At Source Jiu Jitsu Club, self-defense and martial arts training go hand in hand. Though the application of self-defense is at the core of every class we teach, our No Gi Jiu Jitsu course prepares students like no other. No Gi Jiu Jitsu is unique because it ditches the martial arts uniform we’ve all become accustomed to and replaces it with regular gym clothes. The goal of this isn’t to keep students comfortable – it’s all about mimicking real-life altercations. While everyone has a different take, we feel that the grappling of No Gi Jiu Jitsu is more realistic than any other form of martial arts. Without the grip of a kimono, the extra time to decide your next move, or as many complex techniques, you’re gaining an experience that is way more similar to any altercation you may be confronted with outside of our gym.

Overview

If you decide to enroll your child in No Gi Jiu Jitsu, they’ll probably get to wear clothes they already own! No Gi BJJ ditches the kimono and pants for athletic wear, like a rash guard and shorts. This style of BJJ doesn’t allow you to grab your opponent’s clothes, which leads to a much faster pace. If your first priority for your child is self-defense, No Gi Jiu Jitsu is probably your best bet, as it mimics real-life altercations.

Teaches Self-Defense

As a parent, your first priority is keeping your child safe. That’s why we are so passionate about equipping kids with the invaluable self-defense skills that BJJ provides. While all forms of Jiu Jitsu prepare students for real-life altercations and provide essential lessons on how to protect oneself, No Gi Jiu Jitsu takes self-defense to another level. No Gi Jiu Jitsu is unique in its ability to mirror situations students could potentially face in the real world, due to its uniform of regular clothing and its utilization of faster-paced grappling.

Provides A Safe Environment

Preparing to defend oneself against an attacker sounds scary, but we promise to make sure that your child feels comfortable and safe throughout the entire process. We enforce a strict policy of acceptance, respect, and care for others that is incorporated into everything we do – whether it’s student-instructor interactions, warm-ups, sparring, or student friendships. From day one, we encourage students to express any questions and concerns they may have. We believe that communication is the key to creating a healthy and uplifting training environment.

Improves Health and Fitness

No Gi Jiu Jitsu doesn’t just teach your child essential self-defense skills, it helps them in all aspects of their life. Having the ability to protect yourself will create a unique type of confidence in your child that carries over into their ability to speak out in class, make new friends, and stand up for themselves and others against bullies. Not to mention, Jiu Jitsu is great for your child’s health. This martial arts discipline is known for providing students with a full-body workout that boosts flexibility, improves coordination, and creates positive lifestyle habits.

Creates Community

From the moment a child steps into our building, they will be met with a supportive and inclusive environment of instructors and fellow students who want them to succeed. Because students regularly spar each other in class, you may be surprised to learn just how strong the friendships in our BJJ classes are. Jiu Jitsu teaches kids the thrill of winning as well as the humility of losing, and we make sure our students respect each other throughout all the highs and lows of their training.
